Music. Quite possibly the most almighty of arts. It has that je ne sais quoi. A mojo so powerful it can influence our moods, lift our spirits and even make us feel like Marty McFly and travel back in time.
Music can take our feelings away, or at least allow how we are feeling to be replaced by another one. Studies show that listening to music when we are stressed can be a good thing because it affects the amount of stress hormones, such as adrenaline and cortisol and all the rest of that scientific jazz (pun intended) the body releases. As a result? We feel relieved from the symptoms of the nasty stuff like anxiety and depression.
Some songs even have the capacity to remind us of particular moments in our lives and these memories may either want to make us smile- or forget. I’m sure we can all think of that one song that when we hear it, triggers an emotional response.
Music can help us to disconnect from the outside world and transport us into our own private little one where our worries are left behind. It can be an opportunity to focus our attention elsewhere or even motivate us. Often we find it difficult to make sense of how we are feeling but by listening to music- which has the ability to echo feelings, we are able to get the hang of our emotions.
Where words fail, music speaks

You’ll probably agree when I say music is a pretty personal art form and that’s because most of us connect with it on an emotional level.
