” ‘Cause I’ve got a golden ticket. I’ve got a golden chance to make my way. And with a golden ticket, it’s a golden day“
It’s said that choice is life’s golden ticket. Today I chose not to carry on with what I was doing because the cons far outweighed the pros.
It was difficult to process at first, I don’t like to quit at the best of times but this wasn’t about quitting or not, it was about doing what was right for me. Because if we are not completely happy with our choice and want out, then that’s okay. It’s okay to admit you were wrong, it’s okay to hold your hands up and say now is not the right time because that is being brave and having the guts to stand up for yourself.
What works for one doesn’t work for another, everybody is different and different should be embraced. We can learn something from every experience in our lives, if we do then we will get the best out of these situations and at least that way we are on the right path to being the best versions of ourselves.
Health and happiness are two words that you often see together. In every Christmas card, I write: ‘Wishing you good health & happiness for next year’ and this is because these are undeniably two of the most important things a human can acquire to get the best from life. And here’s the kicker, we actually have more control over these two things than we think.
Health isn’t just physical, it’s mental too and to have good mental health greatly advances our chance of happiness. Yes, we can control our physical health with diet and exercise but that doesn’t necessarily exempt us from being diagnosed with cancer one day. This is why it’s important to embrace the significant amount of control everyone one of us has over our own mental health.
So make choices that make you feel happier- feel healthier. Misery is a disease, an awful state of mind that creeps in and spreads like a virus. Do things to protect yourself from it because once it does creep in, it’s harder to get rid of. So nip it in the bud, put a pin in it or broach the subject- whatever you want to call it, just do it.
Regardless of what you lose or the challenges you face, you will never lose your power to choose or decide. Start as you mean to go on. Don’t be afraid to make the choices that make you a better, healthier, happier you.
